岸辺祭レポート～アメリカチーム

The Kishibe festival was held during the last weekend of October and lasted for three days. The exchange students were split into four groups (the Europe, America, China and Korean team) and we were told to prepare food to raise for charity. For the American team, we chose to prepare grilled cheese sandwiches with soda or hot chocolate. We prepared three types of sandwiches: tomato and cheese sandwiches, cheese and ham sandwiches, and finally cheese sandwiches. The students in Team America all chose a job and took up shifts, either working with money, making food, giving customers their food, or running errands. My job was grilling the sandwiches and sometimes giving it to customers. It was a lot of fun and it was the first time I had really gotten a chance to participate with the ISST members, as well as some of the staff members at OGU. I also used a lot of Japanese that day since I was talking to customers and interacting with the ISST helpers. It was also interesting to see other group’s ideas and interesting new foods! The OGU office was kind enough to give the exchange students tickets, so I tried many new foods that weekend! Overall, the Kishibe festival was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to future exchange students!
10月最終の週末3日間にわたり岸辺祭が開催されました。交換留学生は4つのグループ（ヨーロッパ、アメリカ、中国、韓国チーム）に分けられ、チャリティのための寄付金を集めることを目的に料理を準備するように言われました。アメリカチームでは、炭酸飲料とココアと一緒に、グリルチーズサンドを販売しました。トマトとチーズ、ハムとチーズ、そしてチーズだけの3種類を準備しました。またチーム内でシフトを組み、会計係、調理係、サービス係、その他の雑用を担当する係りを決めて取り組みました。私の担当は、サンドイッチをグリルすること、そして時にはそれをお客様に出す係りでした。この取り組みはとても楽しく、今回初めてISSTのメンバーやOGUのスタッフの方々と一緒に何かをする良い機会になりました。またお客様や手伝いに入ってくれたISSTメンバーと日本語で話をする機会もたくさんありました。他のグループがどうやっているのか、どんな料理を作っているのかを見るのも楽しかったです！OGUから無料のチケットももらえたので、開催期間に今まで食べたことがなかった新しい食べ物に挑戦しました。最後に、岸辺祭は素晴しい経験になったので、これからOGUに来る交換留学生たちにも参加を勧めます！
