"Advanced Sports Education" OGU is the pioneering institution in Japan to comprehensively introduce pickleball

OGU stands as the first university in Japan dedicated to pickleball, a sport gaining global recognition, having embarked on an initiative to integrate it as a regular physical education class. This initiative is based on our educational policy that emphasizes the promotion of student health and the provision of diverse sporting experiences.

Pickleball is a sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis, and can be enjoyed casually by anyone regardless of age or physical fitness. In the classes, students naturally acquire competitive skills through a systematically structured program that ranges from introduction to actual competition, and also have the opportunity to nurture interpersonal relationships through collaborative and communicative interactions in pairs and teams.
Beyond classroom instruction, OGU has implemented a systematic and dedicated promotion of pickleball. Faculty members, deeply cognizant of the educational significance of pickleball, have meticulously crafted teaching materials and instructional methods. Through pickleball, OGU not only instills the joy of physical exercise but also cultivates a proactive attitude towards challenges and fosters interpersonal connections among students. These are the hallmarks of the sports education that OGU aspires to provide.
