Global Studies専攻は、英語で英語を学ぶだけでなく、言語に関する知識や社会文化的背景への理解を深めることで、多様なバックグラウンドを持つ人々と円滑にコミュニケーションを取る力を養うことができる専攻です。学生主体の学習を通じて、グローバル社会で必要なスキルを身につけ、国際的に活躍できる人材の育成をめざしています。

course Curriculum
The Global Studies course is taught by instructors with degrees in TESOL and Applied Linguistics from renowned American institutions such as Columbia University and Temple University. The course consists of three courses: Fundamentals, Electives, and Core Studies. Students will engage with these areas across all four years of study.
Global Studies専攻は、アメリカの名門大学、コロンビア大学やテンプル大学などでTESOL（英語教授法）を取得した講師陣が、主なカリキュラムの編成と指導を担当。授業はコミュニケーションを重視した少人数制で行われます。海外の大学と同様の教授法のため、留学先の授業にも円滑に適応することができます。カリキュラムは3つの分野に分かれており、4年間を通して Fundamentals、Electives 、Core Studiesの中から授業を履修します。
1. Fundamentals
Classes in the Fundamentals course focus on developing English skills and are taught entirely in English. All Fundamentals courses are required for students.
Fundamentalsは必修科目です。授業はすべて英語で行われ、英語を使って英語を学び、実践的な力を身につけます。

2. Electives
Classes in the Electives course focus on specific English skills and are taught entirely in English. Students can select courses based on their interests and the specific skills they wish to develop. These classes are available to students across all years.
Electivesは選択クラスです。授業はすべて英語で行われ、興味のある科目や伸ばしたいスキルに応じて、授業を選択できます。このクラスは全学年対象で開講されているため、学年を問わず友達を作ることができます。

3. Core Studies
Classes in the Core Studies course cover specialized subjects and are taught in both English and Japanese. Students will explore global issues and diverse cultural perspectives, guided by experienced professors.
Core Studiesの授業は英語と日本語の二か国語で行われ、 元外交官、国連職員、またはグローバル社会で経験を積んだ講師陣から、国際的な視野や異文化への対応力などを学びます。国際的な課題に対する問題解決力を養うほか、ディスカッションやプレゼンテーションを行うための実践的なスキルも磨くことができます。

Personalized Advising
for Your Success
Our Program offers dedicated advising to support students both academically and professionally. Each student is assigned an advising professor for academic guidance on course selection and academic decisions, helping them navigate their academic journey. This advisor also assists students in exploring study abroad programs that align with their academic goals and interests.
For career planning, students have access to a career advisor who provides personalized support to prepare them prepare for their future and assist them in achieving their professional goals after graduation. These advisers work one-on-one with students to enhance their professional readiness by offering targeted assistance with job search strategies, conducting mock interviews, providing resume feedback, and helping students develop long-term career plans. These two mentorship channels ensure students receive holistic support for both their academic needs and future professional aspirations.
Global Studies専攻では、1学年最大40人の少人数教育なので、学生と教員、学生と学生の距離が近いアットホームな環境で学ぶことができます。講師がアカデミックアドバイザーとなり、学習や留学に関するサポートを行います。
また、キャリアプランニングにおいて、学生は専属のキャリアセンタースタッフから個別のサポートを受けることができます。卒業後のキャリア目標を達成できるよう、模擬面接、履歴書の添削などを通じて、学生のキャリア形成をサポートします。
Program Events
The program organizes a variety of events to give students an opportunity to build relationships with students from other years.
1年を通して様々なイベントがあり、同学年だけでなく先輩や後輩と仲良くなれる機会がたくさんあります。また、卒業生だけが参加できるイベントも開催しており、卒業後もコミュニティーを広げることができます。

4回の留学で高めた語学力と、深めた自信。
内定先：エアバス・ヘリコプターズ・ジャパン株式会社
「大学では留学したい」と考えていた私にとって、語学力を伸ばせる環境は進学の第一条件でした。大阪学院大学の外国語学部を選んだのは、ここなら英語漬けの毎日を過ごせると思ったからです。実際に、Global Studies専攻（IGSプログラム）の授業はオール・イングリッシュ。プレゼンテーションやエッセイの書き方なども徹底的に指導してもらえるため、留学先でも困ることはありませんでした。
1年次の夏にオンライン留学を経験した後、2年次の春休みにカナダでの海外研修へ。その後、オランダとドイツで2度の交換留学を経験しました。初めての長期留学となったオランダでは、最初は緊張してナーバスになることもありましたが、「多少間違えても誰も気にしない」と気づいてからは積極的に発言できるようになり、語学力も飛躍的に向上しました。
内定先は、フランスに本社を置く世界的な航空機メーカーです。ドクターヘリや防災ヘリなど、日本のライフラインを守る機体に携わります。まずは整備士として経験を積み、将来は航空救難の現場で貢献できる存在になりたいと考えています。
長文の速読法に、時事問題のプレゼンテーション。
実践重視の英語が学べるGlobal Studies専攻。
英語を日常的に使う環境に身を置きたい！そんな私にGlobal Studies専攻はピッタリでした。高校生の頃、1年間のカナダ留学を経験し成長を実感したものの、帰国後に英語力が落ちてしまったと感じて……。もう一度英語力を伸ばすには「英語漬けの毎日」を送るしかない、そう思ったのが入学の決め手です。
Global Studies専攻ではすべての授業が英語で行われ、内容も非常に実践的です。1年次の今は、長文の速読法や、ビジネスシーンで使えるフォーマルな文章の書き方などを中心に学んでいます。また「World Affairs」の授業では、気候変動やアメリカの政治といった時事問題を扱い、自ら調べて英語でプレゼンテーションも行いました。
私は英語の4技能のうち「聞く・話す」は得意ですが、「読む・書く」は少し苦手です。授業のレベルが高く大変なこともありますが、学生同士でお互いの得意・不得意を補い合い、助け合える環境があります。今の目標は、2年次に交換留学へ行くこと。世界中に提携先があることも本学の魅力です。現在はスウェーデンなどへの留学をめざし、TOEIC® L&R TESTの勉強に励んでいます。
