Global Studies Program

GSプログラムは、英語で英語を学ぶだけでなく、言語に関する知識や社会文化的背景への理解を深めることで、多様なバックグラウンドを持つ人々と円滑にコミュニケーションを取る力を養うことができるプログラムです。学生主体の学習を通じて、グローバル社会で必要なスキルを身につけ、国際的に活躍できる人材の育成をめざしています。

program Curriculum

The Global Studies program is taught by instructors with degrees in TESOL and Applied Linguistics from renowned American institutions such as Columbia University and Temple University. The program consists of three courses: Fundamentals, Electives, and Core Studies. Students will engage with these areas across all four years of study.

1. Fundamentals

Classes in the Fundamentals course focus on developing English skills and are taught entirely in English. All Fundamentals courses are required for students.

Classes in the Electives course focus on specific English skills and are taught entirely in English. Students can select courses based on their interests and the specific skills they wish to develop. These classes are available to students across all years.

3. Core Studies

Improve Test Taking skills
and Strategies for TOEIC L&R TEST

Students can improve their test-taking skills and strategies, helping them approach exams with greater confidence, improve their performance, and manage time effectively.

Personalized Advising
for Your Success

Our Program offers dedicated advising to support students both academically and professionally. Each student is assigned an advising professor for academic guidance on course selection and academic decisions, helping them navigate their academic journey. This advisor also assists students in exploring study abroad programs that align with their academic goals and interests.

For career planning, students have access to a career advisor who provides personalized support to prepare them prepare for their future and assist them in achieving their professional goals after graduation. These advisers work one-on-one with students to enhance their professional readiness by offering targeted assistance with job search strategies, conducting mock interviews, providing resume feedback, and helping students develop long-term career plans. These two mentorship channels ensure students receive holistic support for both their academic needs and future professional aspirations.

Program Events

The program organizes a variety of events to give students an opportunity to build relationships with students from other years.

April

Welcome Event
Our first-year students mingle with seniors who provide advice on study abroad, class registration, and university life.

June

Culture Exchange
We welcome a group of students from the United States. OGU students give a campus tour in English to the visitors and share culture experiences.

October

Kishibe Festival
Students collaborate in teams to plan, organize, and set up various games for the festival. They work together to create decorations, manage booths, and make the event a memorable experience for everyone.

December

Christmas Event
We celebrate Christmas together enjoying delicious food and playing fun games with classmates.
